General settings

Main settings of a website are responsible for the different kind of website functionality and behaviour.

Choose the Settings from the site editor top menu to get all the options grouped into the logical sections, see the complete list of the input fields below.

Template

  • Template: templates are like skins for your site, they define the main layout of the website and each have their own design settings to fine tune your website look and feel. Currently we have Default, White, Mashup and Messy templates available.: 

Themes

Choose theme: option to choose one of customised templates with ready-made custom design and some demo sections and content to start with your website even faster. Choose the one that fit your needs the most, use the Preview option before apply it to your website.

Texts

This group of settings defines the website brand name and main description of the website used for SEO purposes.

  • Your name: your brand name, used to identify the websites name and author.
  • Page title (title bar): default text that appears in the bowser title bar. This can and should be overwritten by each sections SEO title field content.
  • <META> description: short site description visible in search engine results. It should not be longer than one or two sentences. This can and should be overwritten by each sections SEO description field content.
  • <META> keywords: keywords are used to help search engines identify the websites content. Keywords along with the description can improve your site ranking in search results. This can and should be overwritten by each sections SEO keywords field content.

Page layout

  • Favicon: small picture to display in the address bar of the browser. The file must be in PNG format and 180x180 pixels big.
  • Grid step: distance in pixels for snap-to-grid dragging.
  • Show gridlines: show/hide gridlines in background. Available only in Messy template.
  • Gridlines color: choose the gridline color white/black opposite to the websites background color.

Navigation

  • Is first section visible in menu: turn this option off to hide the first section in the main menu. Link from the page title (or header image) will lead to it. NOTE: this setting has no effect, if the section has a submenu, then it is visible at all times.
  • Show page heading in first section: turn this option off to hide page heading in first section (landing page).
  • Show menu in first section: turn this option off to hide the sections navigation menu in first section (landing page).
  • Always auto-select a submenu item: turn this option on to automatically select the first submenu item when clicking on a menu item. This works only when there is a submenu.
  • Enable navigation to page top: shows navigation button at the bottom of the page when page is scrolled.

Entry layout

Gallery fullscreen settings settings

  • Is enabled by default: enables/disables fullscreen mode for new entry galleries by default.
  • Background color: color of the entry fullscreen gallery background.
  • Image numbers: enables/disables entry fullscreen gallery slide numbers.
  • Caption alignment: alignment of the image caption text for entry fullscreen gallery .

Image gallery appearance

  • Slideshow loop mode: enables slide loop for slideshow gallery type.
  • Show slideshow image numbers: set the default state of slide numbers visibility in slideshow galleries.

Media

  • Small image width: max width in pixels for a small image, visible if file size in gallery settings is set to Small.
  • Small image height: max height in pixels for a small image, visible if file size in gallery settings is set to Small.
  • Medium image width: max width in pixels for a medium image, visible if file size in gallery settings is set to Medium.
  • Medium image height: max height in pixels for a medium image, visible if file size in gallery settings is set to Medium.
  • Large image width: max width in pixels for a large image, visible if file size in gallery settings is set to Large.
  • Large image height: max height in pixels for a large image, visible if file size in gallery settings is set to Large.

Social media buttons

  • Social media links: insert URL link addresses of your social media platforms.
  • Location: location in website for social media buttons. Content of Additional text or Additional Footer text will be replaced.

Custom social media buttons

  • HTML code: custom HTML code usually pasted from third party social media sharing service.
  • Javascript code: custom javascript code usually pasted from third party social media sharing service.
  • Location: location in website for social media buttons.

Banners

Banners are images visible in all sections. Use it for partner logos, buttons or social icons in your site. Displayed image will be half of the original size, full size will be used for hi-res displays. You can insert up to 10 banners with the image file and the target URL address.

Language

  • Interface language: choose the interface language for the website editor, default is english, others are partly translated.

Other settings

  • Google Analytics measurement ID: how to get the measurement ID. Leave blank if Google Tag Manager container ID is filled.

  • Google site verification tag: google ownership verification tag. More info.
  • Javascript include: javascript code included right before closing </body> element. Learn more how to include JavaScript code.
  • Hide copyrights: hides Berta's copyrights shown in the websites footer. Available for Berta.me Pro and Shop plan.
